New Colors Brought Smiles to Faces
May 28, 2017 – Mehrnaz Behrouzi
The dormitory was in a bad condition (still not 100% ok) and we had to do something. Then by receiving donations from our member and former volunteer, Alban, we bought some colors and started painting the walls of the dormitory and also bought some plastic carpets to cover the floors of the dormitory. At the end, we brought some changes in decor that gave our boys better feelings.

Strong Storm Destroyed Classrooms and We Repaired Them Again

I arrived April 3rd in Nepal after finding out about the storm before arrival. We had no classrooms but fortunately, the school was in holidays break at that time. We collected money in donations from our friends to buy bamboos to repair the classrooms temporary before the boys came back. We did it. 🙂
Dashain Festival, No Celebration but Praying for Sacrificed Animals
Oct 3, 2016 – Mehrnaz Behrouzi
While most the people were celebrating Dashain, we were in a different mode. Our little monks were fasting for 3 days to show their sympathy with sacrificed animals during this festival which takes almost two weeks.
Fasting for 3 days without eating or drinking and just praying the whole day (of course it depends on the strength of the people, some eat or drink a bit in the middle to avoid any serious medical problem)
Donated Beds
May 28, 2016 – Alban Deme
The children were sleeping on mattresses on the floors of the rooms. Fortunately, I had some money to buy enough bed frames to help approximately 40 boys to sleep on beds.
By using the beds, they keep their rooms cleaner than before.
The Army Extinguished the Forest Fire
April 7, 2017 – Alban Deme
On April 7, we experienced a terrible forest fire. The kids and the staff of the monastery were watching smoke from the forest. Sometimes we could see the flames as well. A few of them in the company of a teacher went up the hill to confirm the fire which was too close to our school. Fortunately, it was not the same as an outcome as what usually happens in Australia.
The fire was coming down in a 2-3 km wide path. Our school would have been burnt if the army had not arrived in time. The fire was 1 km away from our school when we heard shouting from the forest. For me, it sounded cheerful, but probably they just signaled each other during the operation. They used leafy branches for extinguishing and they managed to do it in 1-2 hours. After that, they came down and we asked to take a photo of them.
We are very thankful to this small army group who did their work properly and quickly.
